When You Don't Understand What God Is Doing

Sometimes life leaves you standing in the middle of a chapter you never would've chosen.

Loss. Unanswered questions. Plans falling apart. Feeling like everything familiar has been stripped away.

This week on the podcast, I'm joined by my sweet friend Danielle from the But God Podcast as we kick off a special four-part series through the book of Ruth—one chapter at a time.

In Chapter 1, we meet two women walking through unimaginable grief. Naomi has lost her husband and both of her sons. Ruth is left widowed in a foreign land. And yet, even in the middle of heartbreak, God is quietly orchestrating a story they can't yet see.

One of my favorite moments from this conversation is realizing that although Naomi asked everyone to call her "Mara" (meaning bitter), the narrator never does. He continues calling her Naomi.

Because even when Naomi's circumstances tried to redefine her, God never changed who she was.
