I remember waiting by the phone…
Waiting on calls that never came. Waiting for the one on the other line to pick up and hearing the dial tone instead. Waiting on a reply but being left on read.
That’s really how waiting made me feel a lot of the time - left on read. I’d poured out my heart to God, begged and pleaded and prayed - only to see nothing. To hear silence on the other end of my prayer. To watch it happen for others and still be right where I felt God had left me.
Many of us feel that way…
Maybe you feel like God has left you on read.
Maybe people have affirmed how ridiculous you’ve felt.
Maybe you’ve been told that your expectations are too high.
Maybe you’ve been made to feel like you’re waiting on nothing.
“But God said…didn’t He?” We’ve all probably found ourselves in this position, doubting what we know because of the delay that seemed to follow it.
If you read nothing else, I hope you read this:
God is a man of His word, and you can get your hopes up.
Scripture talks about watchmen.
Men stationed through the night to watch for threats or intruders. If they dozed off or turned a cheek, the entire city’s lives could be lost.
Many nights probably held no activity, nothing to see. But they were diligent, alert, and faithful to their watch. And then there was the sun.
Because the sun always comes up, but it is always preceded by the night.
Maybe you’re in a night-watch of your own.
Maybe this waiting period has been long, difficult, painful even. Maybe it’s been so long you’re forgetting why you began waiting for it in the first place.
My friend, one day that sun is gonna rise and it is going to be more beautiful and amazing than you ever dreamed.
I’m so thankful those calls all those years ago remained unanswered. Because when the right one picked up the phone, everything was different.
Your story will be no exception.
God allows us to wait not to punish us, but to position us to receive His best.
There is much to see, learn, and do here that will benefit you when your waiting is over. Trust Him in that, thank Him for that.
There is more to this season than just waiting for it to end.
Trust in God. Stay the course. He is working it all for your good.
This week on The True North Podcast…
Waiting seasons can feel long, lonely, and even pointless. But what if the wait isn’t punishment—it’s positioning? In this episode, we explore the purpose of waiting and how God uses it to train our hearts to recognize His voice, His timing, and His promises when they come to pass.
So often, we grow weary when things don’t move as fast as we’d like. We start to believe that silence means absence, or that delay means denial. But God’s promises are not void—His Word will not return empty. The waiting is not wasted.
Maybe you’ve been standing at your own watchtower—tired, discouraged, and wondering if God still remembers what He said. This episode is for you. The Lord is still speaking, still moving, and still faithful to fulfill what He promised.
Have a great rest of your week and thanks for being here!
Love, Mykah (and Nimbus)
